-- Got an idea for developing a new interface card for the Apple II?
Then you need to check out the 8 Bit Baby experimenter's card. Developed
to be used by several 8-bit platforms, the card allows the developer to
plug the card into the different slot configurations using the connectors
found on each of the 4 edges of the board. Logic is provided by the
Altera CLPD chip making the card protean in its possible uses. More
information can be found at: http://www.siliconsonic.de/news/news108_e.htm

-- WikiPedia: A free content, multilingual encyclopedia written
collaboratively by contributors around the world. The site is a Wiki -
anybody can edit and add to an article. Offers quick understanding on
controversial issues. Strong in current affairs.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing--not enough can be a disaster.
And sharing knowledge can be both informative and
sometimes....interesting. With this in mind we offer you the newly-formed
Apple II WikiPedia located at: http://www.applevault.com/twiki This is a
new venture and still a works-in-progress so it's information level at
present is still fairly low.

-- We've all run into Macintosh users who haven't a clue that Apple
Computers made a computer prior to the Mac. That being the case, pick up
the Feb. 2006 issue of MacAddict (on newsstands and mailboxes in
December) - there's 4 different mentions or discussion of Apple II
computers or emulators. The Mac may be flashier, but our Apple II's still
are worthy of a mention now and then.

-- Call-A.P.P.L.E has released their December issue of their online
magazine. This holiday issue contains information of interest to both
Apple II, Apple III and Mac users. Download the magazine at:
http://www.callapple.org/Members/magazine/2005/2005December.pdf

-- Apple II gamers have fond memories of whiling away the hours playing on
their computers. However, memory may have started to fade as to what the
packaging of those games looked like. Enter Donald Lee and his Apple II
Game Museum, a website dedicated to saving the artwork used in Apple II
game packages. Currently there are 40 package images (NOT the programs
themselves) online for viewing. The Museum can be found at:
http://www.angelfire.com/80s/apple2/

 --Software News

  - One of the most difficult parts of p using an emulator is getting your
software in a form where it can be used on your "real" Apple II computer.
And if you didn't own a IIGS it became even harder. Enter Mark Percival's
DiskMaker 8. Based on Eric Shepherd's GS/OS utility, DiskMaker 8 is an
8-bit utility shareware program that will take a disk image and write it
back to disk using any 8-bit computer with a minimum of 128k memory.
More information and the program itself can be found at:
http://www.syndicomm.com/~mark/DM8/

  - If you use a serial connection from your Apple II to a Wintel box, you
know how frustrating it can be to get the two to talk to each other. How
much easier it would be if the Wintel would act like a modem - and now it
can. Internet Modem is a telnet to modem emulator for Windows, emulates a
standard Hayes modem.and will accept AT commands from the serial port.
More information as well as download instructions can be found at:
http://boycot.no-ip.com/internetmodem/

 - CiderPress has been updated to version 2.3.1. CiderPress allows an
Apple II user to manage Apple II files on a Windows machine, including
ShrinkIt archives, disk images, and text or graphic conversions. Among
other changes, this new version now supports Applesoft BASIC programs from
imports text files, automatically giving the user a "BAS" file. A
shareware program, more information can be found at:
http://www.faddensoft.com/ciderpress/index.htm

 - Another method Apple II folk have used to get files from other
computers to their II's is the program Apple Disk Transfer utility written
by Paul Guertin. The program recently found a new online home at
http://adt.berlios.de/

 --Emulation News

   - Have you ever wondered if you could have an emulated Apple ][ on a
Java-capable peecee? If you've wanted to, now's your chance: check out
the program which also has a version for "mobile devices." Also, it's
worth noting that the P84Ever program appears to be hard-coded to run
specific games which are embedded into the downloadable copies of the
software. http://rootshell.be/~disident/P84Ever/new/en/index.htm

  - AppleWin, the Apple II emulator for Windows has been upgreaded to
version 1.12.7.0 by Tom Charlesworth and contains several fixes, including
one to the Apple ][+ ROM. It can be downloaded at:
http://www.tomcharlesworth.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/AppleWin.1.12.7.0.zip
